Title: Luminosity and Other Interracial Erotic Vignettes

Author: R M Miller

Publisher: Reuben Malden Miller

Publication Date: April 11, 2020

Genres: Erotica

Shelves: Female-dominant, Female-led

As the title suggests, Luminosity is a collection of 10 erotic, interracial, female-led vignettes by R M Miller. The power exchange here varies from sweet romance to dark domination, from female-led to female-dominant, with relationships that are new, established, or evolving.

Luminosity, the longest story in the collection, makes for a strong opening. The use of an artist as narrator and lover really empowers the erotic observations of skin tones and contrasts, with details around palettes and lighting as much about art as they are life. The domination here is impulsive and impromptu, with some exciting bondage and edging.

He is gazing at me with a look I can only think to describe as terrified joy. I smile at him. His eyes smile back.

A Glorious Day is another of the longer stories, and I loved the emphasis on teaching a new boyfriend to appreciate the splendor and beauty before him, with the shift to a female-led relationship evolving out of that. Black Muscle opens with appreciation – a young man for a beautifully sculpted, very muscled, black woman at the gym – before slipping into a scene of powerful domination in the locker room.

He frowns, perplexed, uncertain. She loves that moment of hesitancy induced in a man when her tone hardens like that.

Ruthless changes things up a bit, with what seems to be an intimate, almost romantic encounter between two lovers, except it is really about dark passions and a cruel, callous sort of domination. Athena then changes things up again, sticking with that casual sort of cruelty, but foregoing erotic passion for domestic servitude.

The Ritual is another longer, more visual sort of story, much like the opener. There is an exquisite amount of detail invested in setting the scene and establishing the ritual, and the act of enthusiastic submissive worship is captured beautifully. Domestic Business then closes out the collection with the story of a lazy Saturday morning of indulgence, bondage, pain, and pleasure that culminates in melting in her arms and an ethereal release

Because you are mine to dominate with my intellect and enslave with my charms. Your surrender, my love, is your life.

Luminosity and Other Interracial Erotic Vignettes is a solid collection, well-written, with some fantastic visuals and erotic narrative flair. The interracial aspect is one of beauty and contrast, with none of the racially charged undertones common to other erotic genres, and the exploration of submission and adoration feels authentic. Its only flaw (and this is entirely personal – an author’s fetish, a reader’s disgust), is that all the smoking and ash-flicking kept me at arm’s length from the stories.

Rating: ♀ ♀ ♀ 1/2

My sincere thanks to the author for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
