Witches, Wise Women and Way More by Gail Z. Martin (Hawthorn 2020 Tour)

Cassidy Kincaide is one of my favorite characters to write because she is still learning her magic,  but she also has a powerful team of friends and allies who have her back and can teach her what she needs to know.

Cassidy in the main character in Deadly Curiosities, an urban fantasy series set in Charleston, SC. She runs Trifles & Folly, an antiques and curio shop with a dangerous secret. Cassidy can read the history of objects by touching them, and she teams up with friends and allies who use magic and paranormal abilities to get rid of cursed objects and keep Charleston and the world safe from supernatural threats.

Inheritance is the most recent Deadly Curiosities novel, the fourth in the series (but it can be read as a stand-alone). Here’s what Cassidy and her friends are up against: Caribbean ghosts terrorize Charleston and start racking up a body count. Then Beckford Pendlewood, the heir to a powerful family of dark warlocks, shows up raving about a bound demon locked in a lost box and begs sanctuary. Can Cassidy and her friends find the demon box, stop the killer ghosts, and break the Pendlewood curse before Beckford’s murderous cousins and the vengeful demon destroy them all?

All of my urban fantasy series cross over, those written under my Gail Z. Martin name and the MM paranormal romance I write as Morgan Brice. The characters know each other, help one another with advice on the supernatural, and show up in each other’s novels. I love tying everything together into one big expanded universe, and it also helps me keep the details straight!

Cassidy and her friends are also featured in my short story that is included in the Witches, Warriors and Wise Women anthology (Prospective Press). In ‘Heap of Trouble’, a total stranger wills her entire home and all its contents to Trifles and Folly. That’s never happened before, and Cassidy’s sure it can’t be a good thing. The question is, can she and her friends clear up the tangle of decades-old disappearances, questionable deaths and dark magic before something even worse happens?

I love to do stories for anthologies that tie back into my ongoing series, because it’s a great way to give new readers a glimpse of those worlds, and to encourage my current readers to grab the collection and discover new authors and series. That’s a win-win for everyone!

Look for Legacy, the next Deadly Curiosities novel, coming later in 2020!
