I Can’t Wait for… Fairhaven Rising by L. E. Modesitt, Jr.

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about and have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released, but not necessarily. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, which was originally hosted at Breaking the Spine.

My pick for this week is the start of a new character arc on the long-running Recluce saga, this time featuring Taelya, the young woman who stole the final book of Beltur’s arc for me…

Title: Fairhaven Rising

Author: L. E. Modesitt, Jr.

Publisher: Tor Books

Publication Date: Feb. 16 2021

Genres: Epic Fantasy

Shelves: Female-fronted

Modesitt continues his bestselling Saga of Recluce with his twenty-second book in the long-running series. Fairhaven Rising is the first book in a new character arc.

Sixteen years have passed since the mage Beltur helped to found the town of Fairhaven, and Taelya, Beltur’s adopted niece, is now a white mage undercaptain in the Road Guards of Fairhaven.

Fairhaven’s success under the Council has become an impediment to the amibition of several rulers, and the mages protecting the town are seen as a threat.

Taelya, a young and untried mage, finds herself at the heart of a conspiracy to destroy her home and the people she loves, and she may not be powerful enough to stop it in time.

  1. I haven’t read any of his work but my friend is a HUGE fan and we got to hear him read from some of his work at WFC a couple years back. I think I do want to check out some of his stuff at some point. Enjoy!
