Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about and have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released, but not necessarily. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, which was originally hosted at Breaking the Spine.
My pick for this week will be my first Malerman (I’ve yet to read/see Bird Box), but young lovers, a house at the bottom of a lake, and the threat of someone home . . . I’m hooked!

Title: A House at the Bottom of a Lake
Author: Josh Malerman
Publisher: Del Rey
Publication Date: January 19, 2021
Genres: Horror
Shelves: Female-fronted
From the New York Times bestselling author of Bird Box and Malorie comes a haunting tale of love and mystery, as the date of a lifetime becomes a maddening exploration of the depths of the heart.
“Malerman expertly conjures a fairy tale nostalgia of first love, and we follow along, all too willingly, ignoring the warning signs even as the fear takes hold.”—Lit Reactor
The story begins: young lovers, anxious to connect, agree to a first date, thinking outside of the box.
At seventeen years old, James and Amelia can feel the rest of their lives beginning. They have got this summer and this summer alone to experience the extraordinary.
But they didn’t expect to find it in a house at the bottom of a lake.
The house is cold and dark, but it’s also their own.
Caution be damned, until being carefree becomes dangerous. For the teens must decide: swim deeper into the house—all the while falling deeper in love?
Whatever they do, they will never be able to turn their backs on what they discovered together. And what they learned:
Just because a house is empty, doesn’t mean nobody’s home.
I think this is a reprint, i swear I remember when this came out before. I missed it then so I’m hoping to read it this time around too😁

Yeah, now that I check Goodreads, it does indeed look to be a reprint . . . but new to me, so it still counts as waiting. LOL

Oh, is this a new edition of this book? I can remember reading this book in 2016. Not really my favourite, but I hope you enjoy it when the book releases. 🙂

I have this on my Kindle already but I still need to make time for it. I’ve been hearing more about it lately so they must be reissuing it. Hope you love it!
